Fighting An Inner Battle

Everyone is fighting an inner battle on the outside stage – What you do with your mind matters.
To the degree to which we feel fear or anger about what’s happening in the world says more about us than about the world itself. Yes, things are off-the-charts crazy right now, and it takes a lot of intention not to choose a side. But there are no sides—there’s only inside. We have one mind, but what are we doing with it?

What’s happening in the world is meant to show us how much we’re still engaged in believing this world is the real world. But it’s not. Many of us have heard the idea that this world is an illusion, or maya.
In Hindu philosophy, maya represents the cosmic force which creates the illusion, the ‘veil’, of the physical world, making it appear separate from the ultimate reality.

The idea is that our perception of the world is like an illusion, and the true reality lies beyond this perceived world.
So how can an illusion be real?

In theory, we all have free will on this planet. In fact, the only real choice we have is which voice in our heads we choose to listen to—the voice of God/Higher Self, or the voice of the ego.

Which one are we creating in the world? When we’re in fear and ranting — whether on social media or anywhere else—we’re feeding the very things we claim we don’t want to see. But our energy is contributing nonetheless.

I’m not saying fear, worry, and anxiety won’t arise, but it’s really no one’s fault you feel this way — not even the politicians’. These emotions come from what we are carrying within us. So, let the world bring them to the surface, but do yourself (and the world) a favor by not letting them go unexamined.

Sit with the feeling, let it dissolve—but don’t blame the world. The world is just doing what it has always done. The entire world, with its wars and hatred, is a collective endeavor. It’s no one’s fault; it’s simply what happens when we collectively choose to create with the ego-mind.

Do what you can in the world. But in reality, what can we actually do? What would truly help stop the wars and hatred in this world? More hatred? More inner conflict that spills out into the world? Or would it be love and acceptance—even toward the politicians you believe are horrible?

Everyone is one energy—literally. So, we are literally fighting with ourselves.
There’s only one ego-mind on the planet split into billions of forms. There’s also only one God/Higher Self. THAT is real, THAT is who we all are. (not our personalities, or bodies)

So we accept our brothers and sisters on this planet as their God/Higher Self being distracted by the world, as we seem to be too.
It’s okay that we sometimes lose our sh_t—stuff comes up. But it arises to be examined, and released, not projected onto the screen of consciousness, where it creates whatever we throw onto it.

I always imagine God/Higher Self saying to me: “If you want to let this go, I’ll assist you. Just sit and breathe through this with me. But if you want to keep it, that’s quite alright—you can hold onto it if you choose. Eventually, you’ll grow tired of playing with the illusion and come to me of your own free will.”
